A progressive lens that knows how your eyes really move. Powered by artificial intelligence, the Varilux XR series lens can predict how you look at things, so you experience instant sharpness in motion* and seamless switches from near to far.
To build your lenses, Essilor creates a digital avatar of you and analyses it in a 3D environment that reproduces real-life scenarios. This process establishes your individual vision profile, which enables us to optimize the lens for your visual behaviour, not just your prescription.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need progressive lenses?
If you’re over 40 and experience blurry vision at different distances—such as struggling to read up close or having difficulty seeing distant objects clearly—you may be experiencing presbyopia, a natural age-related change in vision.
Progressive lenses are designed to help correct these issues by providing seamless vision at all distances. During your eye exam, our team will assess your vision needs and recommend the best lens option based on your age, prescription, and lifestyle.
How do I choose the right Varilux lens for me?
This depends on many factors such as:
- Your Daily Activities
🔹 Everyday Use – Looking for a comfortable, all-purpose lens? Varilux Comfort Max offers smooth vision for daily tasks.
🔹 Office & Digital Work – If you spend hours on screens, Varilux Digitime is designed to reduce eye strain and enhance near and intermediate vision.
🔹 Premium Precision & Comfort – For the best visual clarity and smoothest adaptation, Varilux XR Series is our most advanced lens.
- Prescription
🔹 If you have a high prescription, we recommend getting a higher refractive index such as 1.67 or 1.74 for thinner lenses. Besides aesthetic reasons, it will also be more lightweight and comfortable.
- How easily do you adapt to new lenses?
🔹 New to Progressives? Varilux Comfort Max helps first-time wearers transition smoothly.
🔹 Looking for an Upgrade? Varilux Physio 3.0 offers better clarity and reduced distortions.
🔹 Want the Most Natural Vision? Varilux XR Series uses AI technology to provide sharp vision in all directions.
- Budget & Performance
🔹 Good Value & Comfort – Varilux Comfort Max
🔹 Balanced Performance – Varilux Physio
🔹 Most Advanced & Personalized – Varilux XR Series

What do I need to prepare before visiting your store?
In order for our lens consultants to recommend the best solutions for your needs, we recommend that you prepare the following for your visit:
1) Bring along your existing pair(s) of spectacles
It is important for us to know the lens design, prescription and material of your current lenses for a few reasons. Firstly, a drastic change in lens design or prescription may have an impact on the adaptability of your next pair of glasses. For example, if you have been accustomed to a progressive lens design with a wider field of vision, you may need more time adapting to a lens design with a narrower field of vision. Also, if your prescription had previously been under- or over-corrected, you may have issues adapting to your actual prescription. Hence, our lens consultants will advise you on the optimal prescription for your new pair of glasses.
2) Bring any eye health documents, if any
If you have any pre-existing eye conditions, do inform our lens consultants and they will advise you on the type of glasses which are suitable for you.
Also, certain health conditions may also have an impact of your vision. For example, people suffering from diabetes may experience fluctuations in their prescription throughout the day.
3) Take note of your individual, lifestyle or professional needs
3) Take note of your individual, lifestyle or professional needs
Here are some factors you can consider:
- Do you spend a lot of time indoors or outdoors under the sun?
- Will you be using your progressive lenses for sports or for stationary activities such as watching TV?
- Do you constantly need to switch between far and near work?
- Will you be walking around a lot with the progressive lenses?
- Are you prone to motion sickness?
- Do you usually work with a laptop, tablet or monitor screens?
- Do you work with multiple computer screens concurrently?
4) Take measurements of your frequent work distances (e.g the distance between your eyes and your computer screen / smartphones)
It will be helpful if you could share the following with us:
- Distance to your computer monitor screen(s), laptop and/or panel(s)
- Distance to your smartphone or tablet
- Distance to your near or intermediate activity (e.g sewing, knitting, painting, or other precision work)
5) How often will you be wearing your progressive lenses?
Will you be wearing it the entire day or only for special occasions? Is this just a spare pair of glasses for back-up?
6) What are your expectations or requirements for vision performance of the lenses?
Do you need to read fine-print words very clearly or do you have to deal with a lot of important numbers on multiple Excel spreadsheets?
How long does it take to make new Varilux lenses?
For Varilux progressive lenses, it typically takes around 1 to 2 weeks to be ready.
Can I bring down my own frame to replace the lenses?
Yes definitely! We offer lens replacement services on your own frame.
As long as your current spectacle frame is still in good condition and is compatible with progressive lenses, we are able to replace them with brand new lenses.
Simply bring down your frame for a non-obligatory assessment. Our lens consultants will take a look at the condition of your frame and will be happy to advise you further.
