Introducing Transitions Gen S: A New Era of Dynamic Lenses

We had the incredible opportunity to attend the launch of Transitions GEN S, the latest innovation in dynamic lenses. With cutting-edge advancements in light-adaptive technology, GEN S sets a new standard for eyewear, offering seamless, responsive, and stylish solutions for wearers who navigate varied lighting environments.
Gen Style: A Spectacular Colour Palette
One of the standout features of GEN S is its vibrant and expansive colour range. With the addition of the new Ruby shade, there are now eight stunning colours to choose from!
The colours are: Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, Emerald, Amber, Grey, Brown and Graphite Green.
What sets GEN S apart is its ability to maintain true-to-tone colour at all stages, allowing for endless pairing possibilities with different frames and styles. This means wearers can express their personality with lenses that complement their aesthetic while delivering superior optical performance.

At the launch event, we were thrilled to explore different frame pairings with Ruby and the other Transitions Colours. The possibilities are endless! Here are some of the glasses that we tried activating with the UV lamp below. Notice how the Ruby lenses really stand out!
Gen Speed: Ultra-Responsive Light Adaptation
GEN S lenses are designed to adapt to light in seconds and return to clear faster than ever. Key performance highlights include:
- Darkens in seconds*, adapting instantly to outdoor light.
- Starts to clear in seconds and fades back in around two minutes*.
- Fully clear indoors, ensuring an effortless transition between different environments.
This ultra-responsive performance means wearers can move between bright sunlight and indoor lighting with continuous visual comfort, without the inconvenience of slow transition times.
Gen Smart: Elevating the Visual Experience
GEN S lenses are more than just adaptive; they enhance vision in all light conditions. With superior contrast sensitivity and faster recovery from bright light, these lenses help maintain optimal vision clarity throughout the day.
- 39% faster vision recovery from intense bright lights vs. clear lenses*
- 40% faster vision recovery during fadeback vs. Transitions GEN 8*
- 39.5% improved contrast sensitivity during fadeback vs. Transitions GEN 8*
Additionally, GEN S lenses provide:
- 100% UVA & UVB protection*
- Up to 32% blue-violet light filtering indoors*
- Up to 85% blue-violet light filtering outdoors*
This ensures continuous visual harmony in ever-changing light environments, making everyday vision more comfortable and effortless.

The Technology Behind GEN S
GEN S lenses incorporate advanced symbiotic technology, where dyes and matrix are specifically engineered to interact seamlessly. The new matrix architecture achieves the perfect balance between soft and hard spaces, optimising dye performance while maintaining durability.
The super-charged dyes absorb more energy, accelerating the light-adaptive process to deliver unmatched responsiveness without compromising colour vibrancy.
This innovation is backed by:
- 30 years of photochromic expertise
- 100,000 lenses tested
- 1,500 new photochromic dyes created
- 120 dedicated scientists
With proprietary and patented technology, Transitions continues to lead the industry in dynamic lens development.
The Need for Light Management
We live in an environment where light conditions are constantly changing, impacting the way we see and experience the world. Our visual system is dynamic, continuously adjusting to maintain clarity and comfort. Yet, traditional static lenses do not account for these variations.
Transitions GEN S lenses redefine the standard by offering both vision correction and light management, dynamically adapting to shifting light conditions throughout the day. With their ultra-responsive nature and wide array of vibrant colour options, these lenses provide an unmatched combination of functionality and personal expression.
Why settle for a static clear lens when you can have lenses that actively enhance your visual experience?
